How to Deal with Stress Factors Dealing with Stress Headaches

Friday, September 30th, 2011

There are a lot of stress factors dealing with stress headaches. The least important thing is the fact that while being set off by physical and emotional anxieties, stress headaches can be hectic in and of themselves. Essentially, it is pretty common for them to become worse. The key is to figure out how to effectively take care of stress before it turns into a stress headache. This means that you need to figure out how to deal with the stress factors that deal into your headaches. If you carry on reading, you can find out how to do that.

Practice your breathing.

When you start to feel stressed or anxious one of the best things you can do for yourself is to regulate your breathing. You can feel calmer simply by making your breathing rhythm slower and more conscious. For one thing, this is a simple form of meditation, and it gives you something to focus on other than your problems. Your brain and the rest of your body also benefit by getting more oxygen. Very often, this will be enough to end your headache. Teach yourself to say No. It is not uncommon to take on too many projects because we hate the idea of upsetting the people in our lives. Sorry to say, but this causes us to feel frazzled and overworked later on and that can cause a long line of stress headaches. Teach yourself how to decline an offer. It is not necessary to be nasty, because you can just explain to someone that you do not have the extra time to take on more endeavors. You will be able to manage your work level and your family and coworkers should be able to figure out where you are coming from. In this fashion you can reduce your stress levels, that is once you get used to telling people No. In the beginning, this will be nerve-racking!

Teach yourself how to think positively. The moment you begin to think negative thoughts, you should attempt to think of something more enjoyable. For example, you might have worn shoes that hurt your feet to work that day. Think about how amazing your ensemble looks, as opposed to how achy your feet are feeling. Or, just think positively for the moment you reach your desk and you will be able to kick off your shoes. When times are tough and you cannot afford the things you really want, figure out how to be satisfied with the things you already have. Having optimistic thoughts is excellent for minimizing stress and keeping headaches away.

It’s hard to be at your best when you’re suffering from a stress headache. For some, these headaches seem to come about randomly, while for others they occur in certain situations. Aside from the above tips, you should get a professional medical opinion about your stress headaches, especially if they occur regularly. This way you can make sure that your headaches are properly diagnosed and treated.
